Meadham Kirchhoff Spring 2011

One of my favourite spring collections is definetly the Meadham Kirchhoff one. I felt like pushed back into my rebellious teenage years. Nobody understood how you felt. You hated school and your class and were quite often pissed about yourself and stopped talking to your parents. You wanted to be cool and underline that you were different but there was also a desire to be a little bit like the popular girls, a natural beauty. You wanted to be so much but didn't knew were to start and so it was inevitable that you became obsessed with it and as a result was your biggest rival.
The funny thing here is that I wanted to become a fashion designer so badly and I was in the bloom of my really wild Visual Kei/ J-Rock years and wanted to express that. I dyed my hair in shiny red and black and later on got pink and yellow and had quite funny haircuts. The only sewing skills I had back than were the ones of doing easy accessoires and bits and bobs so I started sewing collars, headpieces and frilled sleeves and almost everything I got was 'pimped' with lace. God how I love lace and embroidery.
And this collection reminds me of all that and I feel like (even if I didn't think like this back than) it's good that I experienced all that. Thank you Meadham Kirchhoff!! I could kiss you for the shiny colours and especially the fabulous sandals. They are a girls dream!!!Thank you Nazir Mazhar!!!
How I wish I could have seen this show, just look at the uber pretty Alice-in-Wonderland-esque setting with all the pink and lavender coloured flowers. And on top of that is of course the collection: All the layers and layers of frills, lace and chiffon combined with khaki drill jackets and skirts and the painted biker jackets and tees are a fantastic and inspirational change of style.
Right now I feel so deeply inspired that I want to sit down in front of my sewing machine and sew lovely collars like that with multicoloured velvet ribbons.

Viva la weekend

Well this was a quite turbulent and productive weekend. Complicated very-important-persons-to-me-issues were finally solved, got fever, was pissed, had to play photographer at the annual local marathon again (my father's his no.1 fan), made quite a lot scetches and notebook collages.

Photographs taken by my sister and face studies by me.

Thanks Kele and Wikipedia a new slang terminology found its way into my word pool

I was a little sceptic about Kele's solo thing but dammit I'm fond of this song and could dance all day long to it.

Masterpiece

Floral shirt: New Yorker
Denim dress: H&M
Boots: Deichmann
'I love London' Button: Souvenirshop in London
'Masterpiece' Button: Tate Britain

I can't believe that I wore a coat two days ago. Today it was such a  wonderful and warm weather I couldn't resist and had to go out. I'm so excited and happy about the Foals concert in December!!! It's going to be so much fun!!! FW post still have to wait a little.

Eat Pray Love

Eat Pray Love - That's a nice motto isn't it? Imagine that live could be so easy if you only followed this three words. Well I have to watch this movie!!!! I mean Julia Roberts is back and for the ones who aren't interested in her. There's also plenty of James Franco and Javier Bardem to see!!!! I hope I won't faint in the theatre when they do a big James Franco's-sad-face-zoom XD This going to be entertaining.

garden impressions

Yesterday I took a stroll through the garden, made some scetches and cleared my mind. Sometimes a lovely garden is all you need. I still can't believe that I made the rose pic with my mobile phone camera...it glows so wonderfully. Probably already later this day I do some London and NY Fashion Week post of my favourite collections. I'm a little late with it but naah quite a lot blogs were overloaded with it and so I wasn't in the mood.

This Orient

This is the song that inspired me for my new blog title. The latest Foals album 'Total live Forever' is genius and awaits the listener with  quite a few musical and lyrical superb pearls. I love the abstract lyrics and the experimental melodies. Worth listening!!

Jessica Stam

Well what do you think about my new (nothing extremely new) blog layout? For me it feels refreshing and pure unlike the pink little space I had before. I got my lomo's today and I'm so in love with them. For my first shoot they are not too bad but I've to still figure out how I get them on my pc for my scanner really messes them up. I probably have to take pics with my digital camera to post them here or do you have any suggestions for me? Hhmmm well that aside for a few days now a certain model got my attention: Jessica Stam. In the current Glamour style book a/w 2010/11 there was a picture of her wearing my beloved yellow ERDEM dress at the VOGUE Türkiye party in Paris (see the pic below) and one step followed the other. My favorite photo shoots are the VOGUE Italia Sept 04 ones. They look so fairyesque/20ies and her features look so pure and infantine...adorable!!

Erdem Fall 2010

( runway photos via style.com, background photos via erdem )

I mentioned earlier to be precisely here that I've fallen for the Erdem skirt. Well I've to take that back. I've fallen for nearly the entire collection. The visual effect dresses and the high necked button-down shirt caught my attention. I liked the combination of colors and abstract autumnal prints on silk very much. My favorite pieces were definetly the blue floral dress because it kinda reminded me on the wallpapers of some country aristocrats form centuries ago, the grey bolero jacket (seen above) and my heart pieces the 'yellow ones'. The yellow silk dress with the vertically patterned autumn leaves  would be so perfect for a stroll through the parc with warm tights and an umbrella. All in one I'm fond of  this romantic autumn theme in this collection.

I want a violet carson rose

Yeah I do... the one from 'V for Vendetta'. I didn't reckon that they would show V in TV and so it was a welcomed surprise to me. I like the nebulous storyline and the numerous references to real events.

My creativity is kinda back although I have to say that it has to do more with wonderful inspirational blogs than with me. Some weeks ago I saw this at Lauren's blog and fall instantly in love with it because I saw floral hair wreaths everywhere and they looked so lovely and reminded me of warm summer night breezes and light heartedness (way too many 'and'). Especially now where I got a cold again because it's WINTER here in SEPTEMBER!!!! I needed this feeling and so I decided to do a quick prototype to see if it works and well I think it did. I'm satisfied with it.

I wish you all a good night!! Kisses!!
